Artist Statement

My practice continues to evolve as I work through the deeply personal yet universal experience of aging as a woman. My work has evolved from contemporary realist flowers to my current meditation on the aging of women. I am learning and processing women's stories, lives, and lessons and using that journey to create pieces that represent my evolving understanding of the world. I continue to explore the use of women's craft and domestic items in my work in order to create a dimensional and unique story on the canvas. Using broken dish mosaics and fibers such as yarns and threads speak to the domestic sphere and the patriarchal standards of what is considered important.
